DALHOUSIE WEBSITE

This website now only contains details of the work I carried out while I was doing my PhD research at Dalhousie University. I was based in Hal Whitehead's research group at Dalhousie for my PhD research (1994 - 1999), funded by a Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship.

PhD thesis: Hooker, S.K. 1999. Resource and habitat use of northern bottlenose whales in the Gully: ecology, diving and ranging behaviour. Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. PhD: Abstract, Table of Contents and downloadable electronic copy (.pdf)

During my PhD, I was fortunate to be involved in a variety of projects. In addition to my own, which gave me a wealth of experience with skippering a sailboat for offshore research, I spent some time helping with Jenny Christal's research on sperm whale social organisation in the Galapagos Islands, and with Robin Baird's research on killer whale diving behaviour in the San Juan Islands.
